Matthew J. Milicic, Jr.

Matthew John Milicic Jr., 66, of Newark Valley, NY passed away after a tragic accident. While riding his motorcycle with the Punishers LEMC Rescue Chapter on the way to NYC for a 9/11 charity ride, he collided with an oncoming vehicle. Matt served 8 years in the US Navy aboard the USS McCloy, worked for 35 years as an engineer for Lockheed Martin in Owego, NY, and held four patents in antenna design technology. In retirement he participated in multiple charity events including helping those in need in his free time and as a member of the Newark Valley Fire Dept. Auxillary. He was also a musician, playing bass and singing with multiple local bands, as well as at family gatherings and was an avid fan of the Cleveland Browns. Matt had a kind and generous heart and will be deeply missed by all those who love him. Matt is survived by his wife, Y. Marie Milicic, his sons: Matthew Michael Milicic (Stefanie Nuez Beran), and Jacob Joshua (Larissa) Milicic; his brother: Mark (Cherlynn) Milicic, sisters: Paula Milicic-Fuller and Karen (Rev. Michael) Ross; nieces and nephews: Ryan, Eric, Shawn, Andrew and Zachary Milicic; Christian and Farah Kish; his step-children: Shawnna McBride, Cassandra (David) Ray, Kristen McBride (Greg Carter); step grandchildren: Aidene McBride, Alexander and Dustin Ray, Austin Holliday. Also surviving is the mother of his children Victoria Smith. Matt was predeceased by his parents Matthew J. and Mary Ann (Lazor) Milicic, his sister Edwina Milicic and Maries son Billy Joe Moravec. Family and friends are invited to a period of visitation and sharing of memories at the Newark Valley Fire Station on Sunday Oct. 3, from 1-3 pm. followed by a Memorial Service.
