Mary Ann Darling

Early in the morning of Oct. 15, 2018, Mary Ann Darling, 85, formerly of Newark Valley, left her earthly home and joyfully entered into the presence of her Lord and Savior. Mary Ann is survived by her devoted husband of 65 years, George Darling, Sr. and their children: George Jr. (Rosa), Marty Darling, Wendy (Jeff) Whitmarsh and Amy (Jim) Bibbins, 17 grandchildren, many great- grandchildren and 2 great- great grandchildren. Also surviving are her sisters-in-law: Joyce Tarbox, Naomi Tarbox, Alta Patterson and several nieces and nephews. Mary Ann was born at the family home in Newark Valley, a daughter of the late Claude N and Ruby A. (Williamson) Tarbox. She was predeceased by her sister Erma (Richard) Fleming, brothers Duane and Seth Tarbox and Georges brother Robert Darling. She was a 1951 graduate of Newark Valley High School and a longtime member of the First Baptist Church of Newark Valley where she taught Sunday School and participated in AWANA and music ministries. For many years she was a school bus driver for Newark Valley. Following retirement, she became an associate with Home Interiors & Gifts. She also enjoyed golfing, ceramics, crocheting, sewing and gardening. George and Mary Ann resided at Maranatha Village, Sebring FL for more than 20 years, where they built lasting friendships. Her Family will receive friends at the First Baptist Church, Whig St, Newark Valley on Friday from 10 to 11:30 am. A Funeral Service and Celebration of Her Life will follow with her grandson Pastor James Darling officiating. Burial will follow in Hope Cemetery.
