Mary Martha Alvarado, 73, of Trumansburg, passed away on January 5, 2026, at the Arnot Ogden Medical Center in Elmira. Born on January 12, 1952, Mary was a daughter of the late Merritt and Beatrice Vargason.
She is survived by her children Tina Sheldon, Anthony Strong, and Jolie Washington, as well as her grandchildren Randy, Brittany, Madison, and Robert.
Mary worked for many years as a Home Health Aide, providing gentle and compassionate care to everyone she had the pleasure of assisting. After her retirement she enjoyed keeping herself busy watching TV shows, such as her favorite: Yellowstone, cooking, astronomy, and could often be found at the casino or scratching off her latest scratch-off cards. Above all, Mary’s family, especially her grandchildren were her world, and she enjoyed spending time with them.
Abiding her wishes, there will be no services, a celebration of her life will take place at a date to be announced. Memories and condolences can be shared in her online guest book at www.macphersonfh.com. The family is under the caring guidance of MacPherson Funeral Home in Newark Valley.
