Marvin "Tom" Mcneil

Marvin Thomas "Tom" McNeil passed away peacefully at home on March 26, 2023, surrounded by his loving family. Tom was born in Endicott, NY to Marvin and Betty (Glann) McNeil on January 10, 1942. He attended Newark Valley Central Schools and graduated from Mohawk Valley Technical Institute in Utica. Tom was a devoted husband to his loving wife of 58 years, Sharon (Serafin) McNeil, whom he married on August 29, 1964. He was a devoted father to his children David (Ingrid) of Falls Church, VA, Colleen (Randy) of Alexandria, VA, and Dustin (Stacy) of Lakewood, CO. Tom is also survived by his grandchild Jackson McNeil, sisters Sally Hull and Peggy Pierce, brother Chuck McNeil, beloved cousins, nieces, nephews, and dear friends.Tom worked as an administrator in the Investment Services department at Security Mutual Insurance Company in Binghamton for 37 years. He enjoyed traveling with family, camping, hiking, sailing, fishing, and working on vehicles of all sorts - usually those that were in constant need of repair. He had a special place in his heart for Ramblers Rest in Venice, Florida, where he spent winters for 22 years. For the past 4 years, Tom and Sharon spent summers in Lakewood, Colorado to be closer to grandson Jackson.The family will receive friends on Saturday, April 1st from 10 12 pm at the MacPherson Funeral Home (5 E Whig St, Newark Valley, NY 13811) A funeral service and celebration of Toms life will follow at 12 pm. Tom will be laid to rest in the Riverside Cemetery, Lounsberry.
