Mark R. Scannapieco

Mark R. Scannapieco, 55, passed away in his sleep, on March 4, 2013 following an illness.Mark is survived by his parents; George and Martha Scannapieco; his brothers: George (Wendy) and Eric (Kathleen) Scannapieco; four nephews: John, Paul, Eric and Shane Scannapieco and 2 aunts: Olga Merenda and Lucille Jorgensen.Born in Philadelphia on Aug. 2, 1957, Mark lived most of his life in Berkshire on the family farm. He received his BS in Biology from Penn State and MA in computer science from Binghamton University and was a 20 year employee of Cornell University. He traveled extensively, working as an independent photographer, to many sporting competitions, and was honored to receive a recommendation to photograph the gymnastic events at the 2012 Olympics. Mark will be greatly missed.His family will receive friends at the MacPherson Funeral Home, Newark Valley on Monday, March 11th from 1-2 PM. A funeral service and celebration of his life will follow there at 2 PM with Rev. Nancy J. Adams, officiating. Burial will be at the convenience of the family in Evergreen Cemetery, Berkshire.
