Marian Elizabeth Brown

With heavy hearts and deep gratitude for her life, we announce the passing of our beloved wife, mother, and grandmother, Marian Brown, who entered eternal rest at the age of 82 after a long illness and a period of care in a nursing home.

A woman of unwavering faith and quiet strength, Marian lived each day grounded in her Christian beliefs and love for the Lord. Her faith shaped every part of her life—how she loved, how she served, and how she faced challenges with grace and courage.

She was the devoted wife of Elwin, who mourns her deeply and misses her beyond words. Their life together was built on love, partnership, and shared faith, and their bond was an enduring example to all who knew them.

Marian was the proud and loving mother of Laurie (Steve) Slawta, David (Lisa) Brown, Nancy (Xhem) Shehu and Mark (Cheyenne) Brown, and the cherished grandmother of 13 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren. Her family was her joy, and her legacy of love and devotion lives on through them.

A longtime resident of her community, Marian gave selflessly to her church, participating in countless ministries, Bible studies, and fellowship groups. She was a steady and comforting presence—always ready to help, pray, listen, and serve.

Her kindness, humility, and deep faith touched everyone who knew her. Marian lived a life of purpose and love, and although her absence is felt profoundly, we rejoice in knowing she is now at peace and home with the Lord she trusted so completely.

Friends and family are invited to a service celebrating her life on Friday, June 13, 2025, at the MacPherson Funeral Home, 5 Whig Street, Newark Valley, NY at 1:00p.m. A period of visitation will be held from 11:00 a.m. until the time of service. Marian will be laid to rest following the service in Evergreen Cemetery in Berkshire, NY. Memories and condolences can be shared in her online guestbook at www.macphersonfh.com.

“Her children rise up and call her blessed; her husband also, and he praises her.” – Proverbs 31:28
