Marguerite Flynn

Those we love remain with us for love itself lives on, and cherished memories never fade because a loved ones gone. Those we love can never be more than a thought apart, for as long as there is memory, theyll live on in the heart Marguerite (Groupe) Flynn, 78, of Owego, NY passed away on Sunday morning, August 1, 2021. Marguerite was born on February 26, 1943 in Poughkeepsie, NY, the only child of the late Irving and Margaret (Baker) Groupe. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her loving and devoted husband of 46 years, Patrick T. Flynn; her uncle Joseph and aunt Clare Baker, and her cousin Sandy and her husband Wayne Woodin. She will be dearly missed by her three sons: Edward Flynn, Kevin (Kelly) Flynn, and Brian (Gunnar) Flynn; her grandson Aidan Flynn; her mother-in-law Carolyn Groupe; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins including Jim (Donna) Baker. Marguerite received her Masters in Education which she used throughout her entire life to support and encourage the young ones in her community. She taught Elementary School in the Newark Valley Central School District for many years. She also assisted with the NV Headstart program and taught at St. Patricks Elementary School as an aide. Marguerite and her husband Patrick were treasured members of the Newark Valley community and longtime members of St. John the Evangelist Church in Newark Valley. For many years Marguerite served faithfully as chaplain and treasurer for the Order of the Eastern Star Chapter # 196. In her spare time Marguerite enjoyed gardening and reading. Marguerites love for reading and her frequent visits to the library lead her to work part time there. Most of all Marguerite cherished her family and loved to spend time with them whenever she could. Family and friends are invited for a period of visitation on Wednesday, August 4th from 6 - 8 pm at the MacPherson Funeral Home, Newark Valley, NY. The Eastern Star will conduct a memorial service before the visitation at 5:45 pm. Marguerite will be laid to rest in Hope Cemetery, Newark Valley, NY.
