Margaret Louise (Grabowski) Liebe, 82, of Newark Valley, passed away peacefully on February 12, 2026, at Lourdes Hospital, surrounded by her loving family.
Born on April 14, 1943, she was the daughter of the late Stanley Grabowski and Alice (Budney) Grabowski-Zimmer. Margaret was a proud 1961 graduate of Newark Valley High School. Following graduation, she worked at Endicott Trust until her marriage to the late Dennis Liebe in 1964. Throughout her life, Margaret held several roles within her community, working as a cook, secretary, and tax collector. She was also a dedicated member of the Ladies’ Auxiliaries in both Berkshire and Newark Valley.
Margaret had a true passion for baking and lovingly created countless cakes for birthdays, weddings, and special celebrations for family and friends. She found great joy in tending to her garden, especially her cherished lilacs, peonies, and lilies. An avid bowler for many years, Margaret spent countless evenings at the bowling center until back troubles in her 60s led to her retirement from the sport she loved.
Margaret is survived by her sister, Irene English; her three children, Michael Liebe, Lisa Kiernan, and Kevin Liebe; and her five beloved grandchildren, Mason, Riley, Amari, Mikel, and Matthew. She also leaves behind several nieces, nephews, cousins, and extended family members who will forever cherish her memory.
In addition to her parents and husband, Margaret was predeceased by her sister, Rosemary Niznik.
Friends and family members are invited to a period of visitation on Friday, February 20, 2026, at the MacPherson Funeral Home, 5 Whig Street, Newark Valley, NY, from 12:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. A celebration of her life will follow. Memories and condolences can be shared in her guestbook at www.macphersonfh.com
