Mackenzie R. Rhodes

Mackenzie R. Rhodes, 21, of Newark Valley, NY, passed away on February 6, 2020 following a hard fought illness. She is survived by her mother Esther Winn, father Jamie (Charlotte) Rhodes, twin brother Tyler Rhodes, sister Haylee (Kyle) Ferguson, brother Harley Atherholt, many step siblings, step father Glenn Winn, her maternal grandparents Burt and Pat Craft, and many nieces and nephews. She is also survived by the love of her life Jimmy Stoughton. She was predeceased by her brothers Edward and Justin Gates; and paternal grandparents Fred and Cheryl Rhodes.Mackenzie loved to be outdoors, and enjoyed taking walks and playing field hockey and soccer. She had a compassionate and generous heart and was always willing to share whatever she had with someone in need. Mackenzie bravely fought a losing battle of declining health for the past 6 years, never allowing her circumstances to keep her from smiling. She was so loved and will be missed not only by family and friends, but also by all of her medical teams who provided her with such great care. Mackenzie was a ray of sunshine wherever she went, and her light will live on in the hearts of all who knew her.Mackenzie's family will receive friends at the MacPherson Funeral Home, Newark Valley, on Wednesday, Feb. 12th from 2 - 3 pm, at which time a celebration of her life will be held.
