She is survived by her children: Millie (Doug) Norton, Barbara (Ken) Miller, Rod (Kay) Birdsall, Gloria (Gary) Whitten, Sandy (Steve) Slack, and her brother Lester Cornell. Also eight grandchildren: Candy and Cyndi Herrick, Brian and Dennis Birdsall, Bill and Michael Whitten, April Samuels, Julie Whorley , 13 great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her parents Anna Belle (Barton) and Floyd Cornell, step mother Flora Finch, her husband Howard Birdsall (1977) and her siblings: Ken Cornell, Gertrude Johnson, Elberta Gregory, Floyd Cornell Jr, Wilbur Cornell and Anna Olmstead. Lula was a faith filled woman who loved her God, her church and her family, and was always so proud of their successes. When Lula was only 11 years old, her Mom passed away. As the oldest daughter, she assumed many responsibilities for the family and thus became very close to her siblings. As a wife and mother, she was a dedicated homemaker, a wonderful cook and baker.pies, breads and rolls being her specialty. She and Howard greatly enjoyed their traveling and camping trips across the country and local camp grounds, especially Yogis in Marathon where they made many friends. They were both very community minded.so much so that they purchased the Richford School Bell to help save the Odd Fellow Lodge. Keeping it many years in their safe protection Lula generously donated the bell to the Richford Historical Society in order that it would always be a part of the community. The town honored her by asking her be the first to ring it when it was reinstalled. The family wishes to express their sincerest thanks to all her care givers in the past few years while she was at home and in the nursing home. Special thanks to the great staff and doctors at Cortland Park and Rev. Jim Willard for their love and prayers. A Funeral Service and Celebration of Her Life will be held at the Richford Congregational Church on Tuesday, July 18 at 11 AM. Guests will be received at 10 AM by the family.
