Lola Elaine (Severson) Singer went home to be with her Lord and Savior on February 11, 2025, at the New York State Veterans Home in Oxford, NY. She was born on September 15, 1935, in Binghamton, NY, the daughter of Carroll and Chrystal (Johnson) Severson. She was a loving wife, mother, sister, aunt, and friend.
She owned her own beauty shop in Bainbridge, NY after graduating from Madame Fenwick's Beauty School in Scranton, PA. She was a beautician for several years. She also worked for Mohawk Dental in Binghamton, NY, and managed the Hallmark store in Vestal, NY for a time.
Lola enjoyed cooking, reading, knitting, putting puzzles together, hosting dinners, and traveling. Over the years, she knitted several sets of baby booties and hats for the Owego Mission Children's Christmas Program in Owego, NY. She enjoyed singing in the choir as a member of the churches she attended. She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Newark Valley, NY
for the past 25 years.
There was a special bond between Lola and her sister, Kay, as they had married brothers. The four-some enjoyed spending time together often over the years. Family was important to her, and it was especially important for her to be with family during all holidays.
She was a strong woman, who raised her daughter as a single mom. This strength continued throughout her life. In recent decades, many times her health failed, yet time after time she bounced back and overcame.
She is survived by her loving husband of 33 years, Evans Singer; her daughter, Lori (Pratt) Gale; grandchildren, Lindsey Teeter and Daniel (Erin) Gale; step-children, Edward (Brandi) Singer and Martha (Gerardo) Hernandez; 7 step-grandchildren, 4 step-great-grandchildren; her sister Kay (Ken) Singer; nephew, Richard (Lisa) Severson; nieces, Lisa Severson and Holly (Tom) Davidson; brother-in-law Gary (Pat) Singer; sisters-in-law, Linda Rockwell and Nancy Coddington; and several more nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her brothers, Melvin Severson and Lee Severson; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, John and Shirley Singer, and Wayne and Madeline Singer.
