God sent white doves from heaven to bring Linda to be with Him for eternity............Surrounded by her loving family, Linda L. Holt, 64, of Sunnyfield Dr., and formerly of Fort Royal, Virginia passed away on Thursday, September 8, 2011. Linda is survived by her loving and devoted husband of 46 years, Robert E. Holt; her daughters and sons-in-law: Robin and Mark Keith; Shelly and Robert Rounseville; Sheila and Daniel ORourke; son Robert Holt and companion Christy Thomas; her sister Betty Butler Ligi; brothers: Clark Butler and Arthur Butler; a special friend Denise Nobis and daughter-in-law Beth Holt; twelve grandchildren: Mark Keith, Jr. and fianc Janelle Russell; Jason Keith; Jessica Rounseville and fianc David Ackley; Toni Rounseville; Patrick ORourke; Kayla Holt; Emily Holt; Arianna Holt; Aiden Holt; Lexi Thomas, Damien Thomas; Tristan Thomas; a host of special friends and family. She was greeted and welcomed into heaven by her mother-in-law and special friend Aline Holt. Linda was born on January 8, 1947 in Elmira, NY a daughter of the late Clark and Ella (Becker) Butler. She attended school in Newark Valley and was employed at Cornell University in the dining area for several years. Always willing to give from her heart, Linda worked at a Christian Day Care in Virginia and also showed great care and compassion for the elderly. A devoted Christian, Linda shared her love for the Bible and was instrumental in leading Vacation Bible Schools, and always found time for her daily devotionals and reading the Bible. She enjoyed reading, playing Yatzhee, traveling, gardening, ceramics, writing in her journal although her fondest treasures were being surrounded by her family and dancing the jitter bug with her sweetheart and loving husband Bob.Funeral services and a celebration of Lindas life will be held on Wednesday, September 14, 2011 at 11 am at the MacPherson Funeral Home, 5 Whig St., Newark Valley with her Pastor and dear friend, Rev. James T. Willard, officiating. Interment will follow in the Glen Hope Cemetery. A period of visitation and time of sharing memories will be held on Tuesday, September 13th from 5 to 7 pm at the funeral home and on Wednesday from 10 am until the time of the service at 11 am.
