Mrs. Meade is survived by her daughters: Shirley Adamek, Manasses, VA., Katherine (William) LAmoreaux, Newark Valley; her sons: William (Nancy) Meade, Oneonta, Willard (Lois) Meade, Owego, Charles (Sue) Meade, Newark Valley. Also surviving are her sisters, Emily Lyons, Brandon, Manitoba, Doris Hocking, Mitchell, Ontario and brother David (Sylvia) Smelts, Nanaimo, Vancouver, a nephew, Leslie Meade, 12 grandchildren are her sisters, Emily Lyons, Brandon, Manitoba, Doris Hocking, Mitchell, Ontario and brother David (Sylvia) Smelts, Nanaimo, Vancouver, a nephew, Leslie Meade, 12 grandchildren: Heidi LAmoreaux Forde, James LAmoreaux, Sherry Cole Flanagan, Gary Cole, Christina Meade Nasoni, Sindy Meade, Alison Meade, Brian Meade, Annette Meade Bidwell, Aimee Meade Shaughnessy, Adriann Meade Coletta, Andrew Meade, 17 great grandchildren: Samatha, Isabelle and Nathaniel Forde, Courtney and Shane LAmoreaux, Sean and Ryan Flanagan, Christine and Kelcey Cole, Benjamin and Jenna Bidwell, Alexis and Tyler Eaton, Matthew Meade, Lorenzo Nasoni, Dominic Morse and Bailey Meade.Born on May 4, 1915 in Stewart Lake, Manitoba, Canada, Lillian was a daughter of William and Ivy (Larcomb) Batten and was also adored by her step father, Charles Smelts. She was predeceased by her husband of 59 years, Ernest Meade (2001) and her sisters Billie Riegel and Patricia Batten.Lillian was a longtime member of the Flemingville United Methodist Church and the WSCS of the church; the Newark Valley Fire Dept. Ladies Auxiliary and the former Flemingville Grange (now Goodrich Settlement Grange). She also served on the Flemingville Board of Elections, authored the So. Newark News for the Tioga County Gazette, grew and maintained beautiful flower and vegetable gardens, raised Rhode Island Red Chickens all in addition to assisting her husband in the operation of the family farm.A celebration of Lillians life will be held at 11 am on Saturday at the MacPherson Funeral Home, Newark Valley. Her very dear friend and former pastor, Rev. Margaret Chauncey will officiate. Interment will follow in the Woodbridge Cemetery, Catatonk. The family will receive their friends on Friday from 5-8 pm at the MacPherson Funeral Home.
