Lester L Cornell

Lester L. Cornell, 92, a longtime resident of Berkshire, passed away on Friday, November 10, 2023. Lester was born on March 17, 1931, a son of the late Floyd Cornell and Anna Belle Barton.

Lester is survived by his children: Connie (Lee Foland) Cornell, Robert E. (Kim) Cornell, and John P. Cornell, grandchildren: Amber (Megan) Patrick, Taylor Lockwood, Tyrese, Alicia, and Jayden Cornell, his great-grandchildren: Ayslynn, Jordan, Adrian, Tucker, Ryker, and Sawyer.

In addition to his parents, Lester was predeceased by his beloved wife, Ellen in 1990, his son Albert Cornell, and his siblings Floyd Cornell, Kenneth Cornell, Wilbur Cornell, Lula Birdsall, Anna Olmstead, Gertrude Johnson, and Elberta Gregory.

Lester was an avid hunter who enjoyed the outdoors and being surrounded by nature’s embrace. He enjoyed family activities, from camping to Christmas parties. Lester also enjoyed puzzle books, baking and canning.

Services for Lester will be on Friday, November 17, 2023 at 1:00 p.m. at the MacPherson Funeral Home, Newark Valley, with Pastor Brandilynne Craver officiating. The family will receive friends from 11:00 a.m. until the time of service. A committal service will follow at the Tioga Cemetery in Owego.
