Leonard Basilio Pozzi

When someone you love becomes a memory...the memory becomes a treasure. Following a valiant battle with congestive heart failure our loving brother and uncle, Leonard Basilio Pozzi, affectionately known and remembered as "Pookie", passed away on Sunday, September 6, 2009. Len is survived by his brother and sister-in-law, his caregivers, Christopher and Mertie Pozzi of Newark Valley, Jacqueline (Pozzi) Carroll of Owego, Linda (Pozzi) and William Waterman of Waverly, Lana Pozzi of Binghamton, Dianne Pozzi of Nichols, and Phillip and Linda Pozzi of Owego; he was also lovingly cared for by his nieces, Rebecca (Pozzi) Pado and Renee Pozzi; also survived by several nieces, nephews, cousins; and his special canine companion, Ginger. Len was born on January 28, 1941 in Endicott, NY, a son of the late Leonard J. and Geraldine Ann (Titus) Pozzi. He attended the U-E High School and entered into the US Marines where he proudly served his country from 1960-1964. Len worked for "the Mouse" at Disneyland as a Landscape Supervisor for 33 years. A kind, generous but reserved man, Len treasured the time spent with his family, enjoyed landscaping, hunting and deep sea fishing. Family and friends are invited to attend a memorial service and celebration of Len's life on Wednesday, September 9, 2009, at 4 p.m. at the MacPherson Funeral Home, 5 Whig St., Newark Valley. Interment with full Military Honors will be held at the Hope Cemetery, Newark Valley.
