Leon C. Welch

Leon C. Welch of Jewett Hill Rd Berkshire N.Y passed away unexpectedly on Monday September 3rd, 2018. Leon was predeceased by his father Donald C. Welch, brother Darrol Welch and grandparents Nelson and Hilda Dillenbeck and Leon and Gertrude Welch, an aunt and several uncles. Leon is survived by his sons Wyatt C. Welch and Tristen J. Jones, and the love of his life Rose Garrett all of Berkshire N.Y; his mother Thelma (Dillenbeck) Welch of Maine N.Y; and siblings Donald Welch, Donna O'Connell and Debbie Vainio all of Minnesota, Dawn Hales (Welch) and Tim Seeley, Doreen Woods (Welch), John (Amanda) Welch all of Newark Valley N.Y. David (Winona) Welch of Cortland N.Y. Darin (Rebecca) Welch of Maine N.Y, and Diane (Brian) Sague of Owego N.Y. Leon is also survived by several aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews, as well as many friends who will miss him dearly as we will. Leon was a 2000 graduate of Newark Valley High School and was a 2004 graduate of Alfred State where he obtained a bachelor's degree in technical engineering. Leon was a hard worker, and spent his breaks from college working with the D.O.T. Following graduation, he continued to work in a full time position until he took an inspector job with Hunts Engineers, Architects and Surveyors in Horseheads N.Y. He was employed there for the last 12 yrs. Leons dream to design and build a home was finally realized after many years of planning. Leon loved to golf, play cards, have BBQ'S, fish, play horseshoes and hang out with his friends and family. Above all else, he loved spending time with his boys and being a dad. Leon's family will receive friends on Thursday Sept. 6th from 6- 8:30 pm at the MacPherson Funeral Home 5 Whig St Newark Valley. A funeral service and celebration of his life will be held there on Friday at 2 oclock with a get together directly following at the Newark Valley Fire Hall.
