Lena May Shaff

Lena May Shaff, a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and sister, passed away on Tuesday, September 5, 2023 following a period of declining health. Born on June 9, 1954, she was a daughter of the late Richard and Ida (Mills) Carman.

Known for her nurturing spirit, Lena was a devoted homemaker who took immense pride in caring for her family. She is survived by her beloved husband of 48 years, Duane Shaff and sons, Jody Shaff and Duane (Jessica) Shaff Jr. Also surviving are her cherished grandchildren: Hailey Welch, Tiffany Underwood, Westin Underwood, Shania Shaff, Dawson Shaff, Toshiona Stissi, and Gunner Stissi; her brothers: Lyman (April), Ken (April), Bob (Robin), sisters: Patty-Ann Blackman, Sylvia (Duane) Riley and many nieces, nephews and cousins. She was predeceased by her sibllings: Richard, Frankie, Cornelius (Neil), Penny, and Susan.

Lena was a creative soul who found joy in simple pleasures, especially tending to her rock garden and crocheting. She also had a special fondness for outdoor activities.

Lena’s family will receive friends at the MacPherson Funeral Home, 5 Whig Street, Newark Valley, NY on Monday, September 11, from 12 noon until 1:45 pm. A Funeral Service and celebration of her life will follow at 2 o’clock. Lena will be laid to rest in Hope Cemetery, Newark Valley.
