He knows when to toss one back and he knows when to head for home.Larry Bowen, 68, of Wappingers Falls and most recently of McGraw, passed away unexpectedly on Sept. 16, 2008 while doing what he loved to do bestfishing. Larry is survived by his daughters: Terri (Dennis) Underwood, Martha Temple and Kimberly (Arthur Bud) Greene, his son, Michael Bowen, his brothers: Gerald (Treva) Bowen, Ron Bowen and Tom Bowen, his sisters: Lois Gent, Betty (Larry) Carmon, Marjorie (Richard) Keith, 15 grandchildren, 8 great grandchildren, many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends including his special friend and fishing companion, Danny Doc Girton.Larry was predeceased by his parents, Walter and Clarinda Bowen and his brothers Dick and Bob Bowen. He was a self employed carpenter working in the Wappingers Falls area for many years and an avid sportsman with a passion for fishing. Larry was a past president of the In-Fisherman Bass Club in Wappingers Falls and the winner of many fishing tournaments and championships. A celebration of Larrys life will be held at 1 PM on Monday, Sept 22nd, at the MacPherson Funeral Home, 5 Whig St., Newark Valley with Rev. James T. Willard officiating. Interment will follow in Hope Cemetery, Newark Valley. His family will receive friends prior to the service from 11 am until 1 pm at the funeral home.
