Lawrence D. Carmon, 94, a longtime resident of Endicott, NY, passed away on January 4, 2024 in Raleigh, NC. Larry; as he was affectionately known by friends and family; was born on July 18, 1929 and was the son of the late Dana and Eva (Fowler) Carmon.
Larry is survived by his children, Lawrence (Victoria) Carmon, Donald (Dianna) Carmon, and Lori (Tim) Rathbun; nine grandchildren; fifteen great grandchildren; his siblings: Walter (Patsy, his late wife) Carmon, Dana (Sandra) Carmon, and Patricia (Victor) Hilts; several nieces, nephews, and cousins also survive.
In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his beloved wife Betty in 2019, and his siblings: Norma (Bruce) Taylor, William (Joan) Carmon, Dorothy (Stanley) Catlin, and Wanda (John) Holt.
Larry was a beloved father and grandfather, a father figure or mentor to countless others, a natural born leader with a servant’s heart, and a proud U.S. Army veteran, serving during the Korean War and was the recipient of a Bronze Service Star Medal. Larry continued his service for 15 years in the U.S. Army National Guard. Larry was also employed by IBM as an automated equipment specialist and associate instructor for 20 years.
In his spare time, Larry was an avid woodworker and loved to travel. Larry and Betty spent their winters in Zephyrhills, FL.
Services for Larry will be held on Saturday, January 20, 2024 at 12:00 at the MacPherson Funeral Home, Newark Valley, NY, with his grandson Nicholas Simonik officiating.
