Lawrence B Thompson, 98, of Maine, NY passed away on August 14, 2013.He is survived by his daughter, Beverly O. Clark and sons and daughters-in-law:Leigh F. Thompson; James L. and Madelynn Thompson and Edwin J. and Karen Thompson. Also surviving are his 10 grandchildren, 13 great grandchildren and 4 great, great grandchildren, sister, Irene Forsyth, several nieces and nephews. Larry was predeceased by his parents: Burton and Etta (Kilmer) Thompson, his wife of 53 years, Anna Lee (Marean) Thompson; daughters, Joanna and Barbara; granddaughter, Rebecca Jones; sons-in-law Charles V. Jones and Roger Clark siblings: Charles, Howard, Russell, Lavina, Dorothy and Eleanor; He served as M/Sgt with the NYS National Guard; worked for the City of Binghamton Dept. of Public Works and Turner Industry in Endicott and retired from Fairbanks Valve Co. Binghamton in 1979 following 45 years of service. Larry was a 32 degree Mason; a charter and life member of Union Center Fire Co.; former member of the Garden Club and Binghamton Auxiliary Police. He was an avid outdoorsman especially enjoying hunting and fishing. His family will receive friends and share memories on Sunday afternoon from 3-5 pm at the MacPherson Funeral Home, Newark Valley. Burial will be at the convenience of the family in Maine Cemetery. The family will provide flowers. Memorial donations may kindly be directed to Maine Ambulance Squad, Union Center Fire Dept. or Dollars for Scholars at Maine-Endwell Schools in memory of Lawrence B. Thompson.
