Laville A Williams

Laville A. Williams, 86, formerly of Newark Valley, NY, passed away in Hamilton, Ohio on August 12, 2018. Laville was born on the family farm in Summit NY on July 17, 1932 the youngest child of Charles H. and Lula S. (Germond) Williams. In addition to her parents she was predeceased by her siblings, Albert H. Williams, Esther Marshall and Wyneda Tierney. She is survived by her daughters and sons-in-law: Susan and Jeffrey Kalkan and Sarah and Douglas Evans; her grandchildren Ashley Evans, Rachel (Kalkan) Levy, Jonathan Kalkan, Christopher Evans and her great granddaughter, Amelia Levy. From first through fifth grade, Laville attended a one-room school in Summit, NY and then attended the Richmondville Central School, graduating in 1950. She was formerly employed at Zain Glove Shop, J.J. Newberry, General Electric, Kelly Girl Services and retired from the Newark Valley Central School District 1997 following more than thirty years of service. Laville was a member of the First United Methodist Church, Newark Valley, P.E.O. Sisterhood, Chapter B for over 40 years serving as Recording Secretary, Vice President and President and The Broome-Tioga Educational Office Personnel. She volunteered for various organizations including 4H, Girl Scouts, Lourdes Hospice and was a caring helper to shut-ins in her community. She enjoyed quilting, baking, gardening and traveling most especially vacations with her daughters and their families. A gathering of family and friends will be held on Saturday, September 1 at the MacPherson Funeral Home, 5 Whig St Newark Valley, from 10-11 am followed by a memorial service at 11. Burial will be SUNDAY at 2 pm in the family plot at Summit Cemetery.
