Larry N. Vansusan

Larry N. VanSusan, 83, of Berkshire, NY, passed away on February 1, 2022. Larry will be greatly missed by his loving wife of 62 and a half years, Hazel; his daughter and son-in-law Julie (VanSusan) and Bob Tomazin; his grandson and granddaughter-in-law Josh and Ashley Tomazin; his granddaughter and grandson-in-law Kara (Tomazin) and Trevor Townsend; and great grandchildren: Wyatt, Luke, and Owen Tomazin and Baby Girl Townsend. Larry was predeceased by his infant son Randy VanSusan; his parents Ralph and Marcella (Hover) VanSusan; and his siblings: Ted, Sylvia, Ronnie, Carl, and Vera Jean. A hard worker and dependable employee, Larry worked for 39 years at the Ladder Factory in Newark Valley, where he held the position of foreman of the punch press department. In 1994, Larry began his position as a Tensioner for BorgWarner in Ithaca, where he retired in 2004. Following retirement, Larry enjoyed spending time in the woods, riding his 1945 John Deere Model A, chopping wood, and spending time with his family. He also enjoyed doing many home improvement projects. Larry's grandchildren and great grandchildren were his pride and joy. He treasured time spent with them and loved watching them grow up. Family and friends are invited to attend a period of visitation on Saturday, February 5th from 1 to 2 pm at the MacPherson Funeral Home 5 Whig St. Newark Valley. A celebration of Larrys life will follow at 2 pm. Larry will be laid to rest in Hope Cemetery, Newark Valley.
