Kenneth W. Cornell Jr. (MSgt., Ret.)

Kenneth W. Cornell Jr., Master Sergeant (Retired), United States Air Force, passed away peacefully on February 3, 2026, at the Mercy House of the Southern Tier. Kenneth was born to the late Kenneth W. Cornell Sr. and Margaret Bates Cornell.

Kenneth proudly served his country in the United States Air Force for 20 years, retiring with the rank of Master Sergeant. During his military career, he traveled extensively throughout the world, visiting many nations including Japan, South Korea, the Philippines, and Midway Island on the Pacific Ocean side. His final military assignment was at Norton Air Force Base, where he served from 1991 to 1993.

Kenneth enjoyed traveling and experiencing different cultures, and he especially enjoyed trying new foods along the way.

Kenneth is survived by his loving wife, Malynda S. (Haraveth) Cornell; his brothers, Alan H. Cornell, Dave Cornell and Tom Cornell, and their spouses Toni and Patricia. He is also survived by his aunts, Martha Cooper and Grace Pointer Cornell, as well as several nieces and nephews.

Friends and family are invited to a period of visitation on Saturday, February 7, 2026, from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM, at the MacPherson Funeral Home, 5 Whig Street in Newark Valley, celebration of his life will follow at 12:00 PM, with Pastor Diane Prentice officiating.
