Kenneth C. Swan, Jr, Whitney PointKenneth C. Swan, Jr. was born on Aug. 27, 1932 in Wellsville, NY the first born son of Eleanor (Brown) and Kenneth Swan, Sr. and entered his new life with his Lord and Savior on Oct. 24, 2015. Ken was predeceased by his beloved wife of 63 years M. Julia (Judy) Schermerhorn Swan on Oct. 8, 2014, his brother Gary Swan and brother-in-law, Robert Thayer. He is survived by his children: Steven (Vicki) Swan, Denise (Doug) Swarts, Susan (Mike) Holden, Andrea (Bill) Eichhorn, Nicole (Mike) Clark, his fiance Barbara Keppler, 12 grandchildren, 15 great grandchildren, sister, Loretta Thayer, brothers and sisters-in-law: William (Barbara) Swan, Dale (Shelly) Swan, Audrey Swan, nieces, nephews and cousins.Ken proudly served with the US Marine Corp from 1951-1954 during the Korean War. In 1984 he accepted Jesus Christ as his savior and has been a servant of the Lord, ever since. He was an active member of the West Endicott Baptist Church. During the 1960s and 70s, he was owner and operator of a refuse business in the triple cities later selling the business to family members. Thus began his career in logging and firewood sales with wood cut from his property in German, NY. Ken also found enjoyment in breeding and exhibiting his herd of registered polled Herefords. When not working, his passion was boating in his cabin cruiser My Gal Sal spending many days and nights with Judy on the waterways of NY. An avid reader of history books and a visitor to many civil war battlegrounds, his vast knowledge enabled him to recreate those battles as they happened to whomever was at the site with him.Kens family will receive friends on Sunday, Nov. 1 from 3-5 pm at the MacPherson Funeral Home, Newark Valley. Funeral Services will be held at 10am on Monday at West Endicott Baptist Church followed by interment in Glen Aubrey Cemetery where military honors will be accorded.
