Kay L Short

Kay Short, 80, of Newark Valley, was peaceful and surrounded in love on her way to heaven on Monday, September 12, 2022. Kay is survived by her daughters, Deborah (Chris) Magee, of Owego, NY, Patricia (James) Brenchley of Spencer, NY and Lori Hill (Carolyn Chow) of Dryden, NY. She is also survived by her beloved grandchildren: Rebecca (Garrison) Christian, Benjamin Sherry, Samuel Sherry, James (Kimberly) McClure Brenchley, Ashley (Chris) Cogswell, Andrew Milicic, Zachary (Sarah) Milicic and Faith Brenchley. Also surviving are her great grandchildren: Reuben, Isaac and Ian Sherry; Jackson, Evelyn and Noah Brenchley; Avery Cogswell; and Miles Milicic; her brother-in-law, Thomas Rose, nephews David (Karen) Rose, Mark (the late Annie) Rose. Kay is also survived and blessed by her best friend of nearly 70 years, Patricia (Daniel) Cawley and their children and families. In addition to her parents Alfred and Gladys (Terwilliger) Blackman, Kay is predeceased by her sister Lorraine Rose. Kay was a long-time and faithful employee of the Salvation Army working in Binghamton and Syracuse. She treasured her children and their families and enjoyed the tranquility of vacation times at Bennett Lake in Canada. Her presence will be greatly missed. Kay's family will receive friends at the MacPherson Funeral Home in Newark Valley on Saturday, Sept. 24, from 2-3 PM followed immediately by a Memorial Service and a Celebration of Her Life at 3 o'clock.
