Karl K. Wood

April 19, 1960 — April 25, 2023

Karl K. Wood, a loving husband, father, grandfather, and friend, passed away peacefully at his home in Newark Valley, NY, on April 25, 2023. Born on April 19, 1960, in Montrose, PA, Karl was a dedicated family man with a wacky sense of humor who brought joy to everyone he met.

Karl is survived by his wife of nearly 39 years, Mary (Ford) Wood, whom he married on October 27, 1984. Together, they built a beautiful life filled with love and laughter. Karl is also survived by his children, Jessica Merrill, Shilo (Rich) Reynolds, Randall (Renate) Wood, and Paula Wood; his grandchildren, Raven, AnJaleyna, Rayne, Shay, Oliver, Sofie, and little River, who is expected to arrive in July; and his great-grandson, Tanner. Karl's mother, Barbara Fredette; sister and brother-in-law, Carla and Dean Einstein; nephew, Matthew Einstein; brother, Christopher Fredette; Aunt Helen Osborn; Cousin Harry (Traci) Leiser; and Mary's extended family also survive and will miss him dearly. For many years, Karl and Mary opened their home, hearts and shared their love with those in foster care. Their kindness will be treasured by over forty children whom they loved dearly.

Throughout his life, Karl was a hard worker who always put his family first. He cherished family vacations to the beach and any ocean, creating lasting memories for his loved ones. His kind, gentle nature and love for God shone through in everything he did, making him a pillar of strength and support for his family and friends.

Karl had a love for animals, and his home was always filled with the joyful chaos of his three cats, Chloe, Tika, and Momma, and two dogs, Dazy and Booboo. They brought him comfort during his many years of health issues and will continue to be a loving reminder of his presence.

A lifelong music enthusiast, Karl enjoyed listening to a variety of genres and attended many concerts throughout his life, including those of his favorite group, KISS. His passion for music brought people together and created a soundtrack for the many happy moments shared with his family and friends.

Karl's loving, kind, and handy nature will be remembered by all who knew him. His wacky sense of humor always brought a smile to people's faces, and his ability to find the silver lining in any situation made him a beacon of hope and positivity. As Helen Keller once said, "The best and most beautiful things in the world cannot be seen or even touched - they must be felt with the heart." Karl's impact on the lives of those around him is a testament to the truth of these words.

In the wake of his passing, Karl's family and friends will carry on his legacy of love, laughter, and kindness.
