June 9, 1923 — February 8, 2017

A life well lived is a precious gift, of hope and strength and grace,from someone who has made our world a brighter, better place.Following a long life filled with many wonderful moments, June E. Walker Spangenburg, 93, left her earthly home on Feb. 8, 2017. June is survived by Her Devoted Boys whom she loved to the end of the earth and their families, John Walker, Robert (Donna) Walker, Jack (Susie) Walker and William (Dawn) Walker; her grandchildren: Chelsea, Shannon, Jeremy Walker, Tarah (Chris) Kalogris, Brittany and Lindsey Walker and Leigh Ann Peyton and her great grandchildren Makenna Walker, Lexi Kalogris and Tyler Peyton, her sister Elizabeth Roe and half-brother Larry (Pat) Allen. June was predeceased by her husbands: Roland Walker and Larry Spangenburg, her youngest son Chuck Walker, her brother Jack (Alice) Allen and her sisters Virginia (Bud) Wagoner and Joyce Ferland and her parents Ralph and Josephine (Marquis) Allen. June was ageless and impeccably dressed--no matter the occasion. She was fun-loving and game for almost anything, energetic, social, and a very kind and thoughtful person. She was a charter Member of the Newark Valley Fire Dept. Ladies Auxiliary and also belonged to the VFW Post 1371 Auxiliary in Owego. Up until several months ago, she had remained active, enjoying bowling, BINGO, traveling, participating with the Newark Valley and Berkshire Senior Citizens groups and the Kindness Counts monthly dinners. Her homemade pickles were just THE BEST!Her family will receive friends at the MacPherson Funeral Home, Newark Valley on Thursday from 5-7 PM. A Celebration of Her Life will be held there on Friday at 11 am followed by inurnment in Hope Cemetery. For those wishing, kindly consider directing memorials to the Newark Valley or Berkshire Sr. Citizens Club or VFW Auxiliary in Loving Memory of June E Spangenberg.
