Joyce F. David, 82, formerly of Newark Valley, NY, passed away on August 14, 2024. Born on December 27, 1941, to the late Arthur and Frances (Robbins) Benjamin, Joyce lived a life marked by love, kindness, and creativity. Her passion for weaving was a reflection of the care and attention she poured into everything she did.

Family was the fabric of Joyce's life, and she wove her love into the hearts of all who knew her. She created bonds as colorful and enduring as her blankets. Joyce had a zest for life, always ready to laugh, dance, and find joy in every moment. Her kindness connected her to family and friends, offering comfort and warmth to everyone around her.

She will be greatly missed by her loving children Rich (Tina) Gourley and Pam (Doug) Wilkerson; her daughter-in-law Merrilyn Hurd; and her cherished grandchildren, Cassie (James) Gott, Tyler Gourley, Thomas (Karina) Wilkerson, Cooper Wilkerson, Kristen Hurd, Esther Hurd. Joyce was also a proud great-grandmother to Keenan and Bronston. Her siblings, Charles Benjamin, David Benjamin, Bill Benjamin, Joe Benjamin, Bernice Peabody, Carolyn Corey, Linda Henson, and Kathy Wright along with many nieces, nephews, and cousins, survive her. Among them, her niece Tammy Thompson held a special place in Joyce’s heart.

In addition to her parents, Joyce was predeceased by her son William Hurd, her great-grandson Maxwell Gott, and her siblings Fred Benjamin, Bob Benjamin, Gordon Benjamin, and Hazel Chaplin, as well as her former husbands Richard Gourley, Robert Bowen, and Merle (Butch) David.

Joyce found immense joy in every stitch she wove, crafting beautiful blankets that provided comfort and beauty to those she loved. Her blankets were stories of her life, patchworks of memories that will be treasured and passed down through generations. Joyce's gentle hands and patient spirit were reflected in each blanket she made, a testament to her loving nature.

Joyce's family will receive friends and relatives on Thursday August 22, 2024 at MacPherson Funeral Home, 5 Whig Street, Newark Valley, NY, from 10:00a.m. to 11:00 a.m. A service celebrating her life will follow at 11:00 with her brother Bill Benjamin officiating.
