Joyce E. Rupert

Joyce E. Rupert, 61, passed away peacefully on April 15, 2009, following a period of declining health. Joyce is survived by her loving and devoted husband of 43 years, Jerry L. Rupert, Sr.; her daughters and sons-in-law, Phidelia (Doda) and Dean Cornwell, Phyllis (Punka) and Neal Carman; and her son and daughter-in-law, Jerry L. Jr. (Toado) and Shirley Rupert. Also surviving are her grandchildren, Andrew and Emily Cornwell, Tonee Carman and Shelby and Brandon Holdredge; her brothers and sisters, James (Linda) Potter, Judy (Thomas) Brown, Elizabeth (James) Olmstead, Homer (Heather) Colby; several nieces, nephews and cousins. Born on July 3, 1947 in Johnson City, NY, Joyce was a daughter of the late William and Phidelia (Holcomb) Potter. She was a sales associate for Agway in Owego and truly enjoyed visiting with people. Joyce was an avid reader and very skillful with a crochet hook. Her entire family has been kept very cozy with her handmade quilts, hats and sweaters. She also enjoyed a good game of cards. Joyce's family will receive their friends on Saturday from 12 until 2 p.m. at the MacPherson Funeral Home, Newark Valley. A funeral service and celebration of Joyce's life will follow at 2 p.m. with Rev. James T. Willard officiating. Interment will be in Center Lisle Cemetery.
