John Saltisiak Jr.

May 10, 1928 — May 31, 2024

John Saltisiak Jr., aged 96, passed away peacefully on May 31, 2024, surrounded by his loving family. Born on May 10, 1928, John's life was a testament to his strength, kindness, and unwavering commitment to his loved ones and his country.

John is survived by his beloved wife of 65 years, Jean Saltisiak, Together, they raised two daughters, Lori Polla, her husband Greg and Lisa Schlee, her late husband John who will remember their father as a pillar of wisdom and support. John's legacy continues through his cherished grandchildren, Andrew (Meghan) Polla, Victoria Polla, David Schlee, and Jennifer Schlee, who could do no wrong in his eyes and were the light of his life.  John is survived by his brother-in-law Michael (Anne) Novitsky and sister-in-law Pat Novitsky. Several nieces, nephews, cousins and many dear friends and neighbors who were a great support to John in his later years, also survive.

John proudly served his country as a World War II Navy veteran, an experience that shaped much of his life and work ethic. Following his honorable discharge, he utilized the training he received in the Navy to establish a respected career as an electrician. His skills and dedication to his craft, always completed to perfection, earned him the admiration of colleagues and the community alike.

A man of faith in Jesus, John was a devoted member of Most Holy Rosary Church, Maine, NY. He loved and was very thankful for his church family.

John's ability to fix anything earned him the affectionate title of “Mr. Fix-It." His hands were rarely still, as he was always tinkering, repairing, or improving something around the house or for his friends and family. There was no task too challenging or too small for him to undertake with patience.

His predeceased parents, John and Mary (Barna) Saltisiak, Sr., sister, Alice Nigh, and brothers Stephen (Chip), Andrew, Michael, Peter Saltisiak, and brother-in-law Clem Novitsky, whom he missed dearly, have now welcomed John into eternal rest.

As we bid farewell, for now, to John, we celebrate a life that exemplified the virtues of hard work, patience, and familial devotion. His spirit will continue to inspire and guide us, and his memory will be cherished forever in the hearts of his family, friends, and all who had the privilege of knowing this remarkable man.
