John M. "Jack" Blazey

Lake Placid, FL: John "Jack" Blazey, 76, of Lake Placid, FL, passed away on Friday, November 25, 2011. He was born in Endicott, NY on May 25th 1935 to Albert and Julia Blazey. He was a graduate of Union-Endicott High School and went on to serve in the United States Army. Jack worked for IBM in Owego for 33 years. He is survived by his wife, Marlene of Lake Placid, FL; his daughter, Joan and her husband Dave Turner of Davis, CA; his daughter, Barb Bovair of Newark Valley; his son, John and his wife Kathleen of Mechanicsburg, PA; his sister, Elizabeth "Betty" Atkinson of Endicott; his sister, Mary Strom of Endicott; his sister, Mildred "Millie" Triano of El Cerrito, CA; his brother, Tom and his wife Diana of Port Townsend, WA; four grandchildren, Jeremy Bovair, Amy Holder, Kara Blazey and Lydia Blazey; two great-grandchildren, Jonathon and Jessica Bovair; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his brothers, Joseph and Albert, both of Endicott. After spending 34 years in Newark Valley, he retired to Lake Placid, FL in 1995. Jack enjoyed many activities including deer hunting, fishing, boating on Cayuga Lake, traveling in his RV with Marlene, and spending time with his family. Jack liked a good joke or story and loved to share his joy for life with everyone he met. He was a life member of the VFW Post 1371 in Owego and the American Legion Post 0025 in Lake Placid, FL. A private memorial service will be held in New York at a later date. Expressions of sympathy in his memory may be made to the American Heart Association or the Humane Society.
