It broke our hearts to lose you, but you didnt go alone, for part of us went with you the day God called you home .. John "Jack" Stephens passed unexpectedly on February 15, 2023 at age 66. He was born to Ezra "Pete" and Stella Stephens on October 4, 1956and was a lifelong resident of Newark Valley. Jack is predeceased by his parents and his brother Curtis Stephens. Jack is survived by his three sisters Peggy Merritt, Donna Harrington, Diane Ketchum and three brothers Gary Stephens, Donald (Janice)Stephens, and Duane Stephens. Jack is also survived by several nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews. Jack was known to the community as hard working and friendly. He had a kind heart and would help anyone in any way possible. Jack wasknown as "The Handyman" by his neighbors in Green Valley. Jack had a love for the outdoors, animals and tinkering in his shed.You could regularly see Jack walking or riding his bike up Route 38. His friendly smile and wave, greeting all who passed by him, will truly bemissed. A gathering and celebration of Jacks life will be held on Wednesday, February 22, from 1 to 4 pm at the Newark Valley Fire Station. Jack will be laid to rest next to his parents in the Riverside Cemetery, Apalachin at the convenience of the family.
