John F Keener, Jr.

John F. Keener, Jr., 49, a long-time and well known resident of Richford, passed away on May 10, 2018. John is survived by his best friend and wife of almost 32 years, Barbara Keener and his children: Diane Schumacher, Tracy, Carrie, Robert, Jesse and James Keener; his father John F. Keener, Sr., his brother Ted (Jody) Keener and sisters Christine (Willis) Underwood, Lori (Robert) Piech, Tammy Keener; his very special grandson, Mason, other grandchildren Gabe and Brynlee and his other kids: Zach Armstrong, Tim Bosley and Jimmy Klingle; many nieces, nephews, cousins, several aunts and uncles including his special uncle Lester Cornell and his father-in-law, Frank Baker, Jr. He was predeceased by his mother Ann Keener. John was an employee of the Town of Richford for 18 years. As a GM certified Mechanic and a certified Mr. Fix-It, John was frequently asked and was very willing to help anyone in need. He served as Fire Chief for the Richford Fire Dept. and also as an EMT. He was an extremely hard worker, a very loving husband and father and an avid hunter and fisherman who sure could tell some fish stories! Johns family will receive friends at the MacPherson Funeral Home, Newark Valley on Tuesday, May 15th from 11 am until the time of his service at 2 PM. Burial will follow on his homestead in Richford.
