Joann Sherwood

Joann Sherwood, 83, passed away peacefully on May 12, 2021 in her Berkshire, NY home surrounded by her family. She was predeceased by her parents George and Eunice Legge, and her brother Everett. Joann is survived by her husband Leroy; daughter Karen Stephans; sons Jerry (Laurie) Wicks, Chip (Kim) Sherwood, Wayne (Patty) Sherwood; daughter Kelly (Bob) Price; her treasured sister Alice Jastremsky; as well as 9 grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren. She will also be missed by her longtime friend of 60 years, Mary (Midge) Goodwin. Joann retired from Cornell University. She was a member of the Berkshire Firemans Auxiliary for over 48 years, attended the Richford Congregational Church, volunteered at the Helping Hands food pantry and was involved with the Berkshire Senior Citizens. One of Mom's favorite pastimes was going to the Tioga community center and playing cards with her beloved sister Alice and her friends. Mom's dedication to her family was unequalled, and she was always there for them. Moms treasured family recipes, which she shared, will be enjoyed for many years. They are part of her wonderful legacy which will be held in the hearts of all who loved her so dearly and who will miss her so much. A graveside service will be held at 1 oclock on Monday, May 17, 2021 at the Evergreen Cemetery, Berkshire NY. In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be sent to Lourdes Hospice or the Cancer Society in loving memory of Joann. MacPherson Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.
