Joan M. RossenOf BerkshireJoan Rossen, 52, went home to be with her Lord on Friday, Jan. 30, 2009 following a long and valiant crusade with cancer. Joan is survived by her husband of 33 years, Eric D. Rossen, her mother, Evelyn Louise McIntyre, her sisters, Elizabeth (Timothy) Davis, Helen (George) Kelly, Louise Barrett and brother, Leonard Barrett. Also surviving are several nieces, nephews, cousins and many friends.Joan was a devoted member of the Berkshire Congregational Church where she sang in the choir and assisted with the food pantry. She was also a member of the Berkshire Fired Dept. Ladies Auxiliary; a former employee of PAC Sign Co. and served as Berkshire Town Justice for 12 years. A kind and caring woman, she opened her home and heart to many and also hosted foreign exchange students. Some of her favorite enjoyments included horseback riding, cooking, baking, traveling and shopping.A memorial service and celebration of Joans life will be held at 7 pm, Thursday, Feb. 5th, at the Berkshire Congregational Church with her pastor, Rev. James T. Willard officiating. Expressions of sympathy in Joans memory may be directed to her church.The Cooley Family of MacPherson Funeral Home, Newark Valley is assisting with arrangements.
