Virginia A. Jinnie Stephenson, 71, of Cortland, passed away peacefully on Jan 9, 2015 following an illness.Jinnie was born on May 14, 1943 a daughter of Mildred Harbst and the late Jesse Harbst. She was also predeceased by her husband Cameron and sister Mary. In addition to her mother Mildred Harbst, Jinny is survived by her loving children: David (Nancy) Westfall, Bonnie Jo (Rick) Martin, Jessie (Phil) Emerson, Cheryl Ann (Stephen) Nemecek, her brother, David (Chrysty) Harbst and sisters: Linda (Art) Neff and Peggy (Joe) Willer. Many grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces and nephews also survive.Jinnie was an amazingly resilient woman and a wonderful, fun-loving mom with a smile that would light up a room. She enjoyed card games, was an avid golf fan, played a serious game of pool and loved motorcycle rides! Her memberships included VFW Auxiliary, Elks, Women of the Moose, Eagles and the American Legion all in Cortland. For many years she was employed at Dicks Tavern on So. Main St. in Cortland.A Service of Remembrance will be held at the VFW on Main St. in Cortland on Sunday, Jan. 18th at 2 oclock with Rev. Steve Barrows officiating. Following the service there will be a Celebration of Her Life and sharing of memories and stories. Those wishing to honor Jinnie's Life and memory with a donation are asked to kindly consider a contribution to the VFW in Cortland or Wounded Warriors in her memory.
