Jerry L. Rupert, Sr.

Jerry L. Rupert, Sr., 67 , of Newark Valley, passed away at his home early Thursday morning, May 5, 2011, following an illness. Jerry was born on Feb. 22, 1944 in Berkshire a son of the late Willis C. and Phyllis (Sears) Rupert. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Joyce in 2009, his sister, Vera Dyer and brothers Richard and Clair Rupert. He is survived by his children: Jerry L. Toado Rupert, Jr., Phidelia Doda (Dean) Cornwell and Phyllis Punka Carman; his grandchildren: Andrew (Joana), Emily, Tonee, Shelby, Brandon and great granddaughter Maggie Joy. He was looking forward to the birth of his second great grandchild. Also surviving are his sisters and brothers: Pauline Thompson, Laura Underwood, Nancy Cooper, Mark, Ray and William Rupert, several nieces, nephews and cousins. Jerry was a long-time employee of Howland Brothers Mill in Berkshire and an avid outdoorsman especially enjoying hunting and fishing. His vegetable gardens were exceptional and he took great joy in sharing the fruits of his labors with friends and neighbors.Family and friends are invited to attend a graveside service at 3 pm Monday at Center Lisle Cemetery.
