Jeremiah M. Flynn

June 12, 1938 — January 3, 2026

Jeremiah “Jerry” Michael Flynn, 87, of Owego, New York, passed away on January 3, 2026. Jerry was born on June 12, 1938, in Utica, New York, the son of the late Alexis and Elizabeth (Fox) Flynn, both Irish immigrants.

Jerry is survived by his loving wife of over 65 years, Geraldine; their children, Daniel Flynn (Christine Miller) and Deborah Daugherty (Tom Varner); two grandchildren, Meghan (Bryan) Senchuk and Brendan (Sarah) Daugherty; two great-grandchildren, Olenna Daugherty and Magdalene Senchuk; his brother, Alexis Joseph Flynn; and brother-in-law James Smith.

In addition to his parents, Jerry was predeceased by his sister, Mary Ellen Smith.

Jerry graduated from St. Francis de Sales Catholic high school and went on to earn a Bachelor of Science degree in Physics at Utica College of Syracuse University. He started work at IBM Federal Systems in Owego in 1960 and worked at the same plant through corporate changes to Loral and then Lockheed Martin until he retired in 1996. He also served in the US Army Reserves in the early 1960s.

Jerry was an avid hunter and loved spending time outdoors. There was little he couldn’t build or fix. Never one to be idle, he worked tirelessly at everything he put his mind to. He was proud of the additions to his house, and especially proud of the family camp in the Adirondacks, which he built from the ground up. His help, advice, and companionship will be sorely missed.
