April 17, 1939 — July 3, 2024

Jeannette C. Bailey, 85, a life-long and well know resident of Newark Valley, went home to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Wednesday, July 3, 2024.


Jeannette was born in Newark Valley a daughter of the late Earl and Ruth Hollenbeck.  In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her husband of 46 years, Ransom D. Bailey; her brothers Earl Jr. and Kenneth Hollenbeck and her sister Evelyn Daniels-Grimes.


Jeannette is survived by her son Brian Lee (Sandy) Bailey of Las Vegas, NV her daughter, Brenda Lea Zimmer, of Syracuse, NY. and her seven grandchildren, whom she adored: Brian Bailey, Jr., Steven Bailey, Edward Bailey, Melissa Zimmer, Amanda Zimmer, Shannon Bailey and Taylor Locke.  Also surviving are 16 great grandchildren, her sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Janice (Bailey) and Jim Miller, a very loving, special niece and dear friend, Jane Youngs and several other nieces and nephews.  For many years, her bird Conner, has been her constant companion.


Jeannette was a GREAT mother and in addition to her own children and grandchildren, she nurtured and loved many others.  She loved to bake, visit with friends, laugh and always tried to look on the bright side. of everything. She was active in the Newark Valley and Berkshire Senior Citizens and attended the First Baptist Church in Maine, NY.

Jeannette retired from the Maine-Endwell School District where she was employed as a bus monitor as well as a driver for many years.  Memories of Jeannette will always be in our hearts.


Her family will receive friends at the MacPherson Funeral Home, 5 Whig St., Newark Valley on Saturday, July 13th, from 10 am until 12 noon to be followed by a Celebration of Life with Rev. Howard Lucy officiating. She will be laid to rest with her beloved husband, Ransom in Maine Cemetery, Maine, NY
