Jean M. Stevens

You left us beautiful memories, your love is still our guide, tho we cannot see you, youre always by our side Jean M. Stevens, 92, of Newark Valley, NY, passed away on Sunday afternoon, March 27, 2022 at the George G. Johnson United Methodist Home. Jean was born on September 26, 1929, in Dallas, PA, the daughter of the late Calvin and Margaret (Smith) Stevens. Jean graduated from Newark Valley High School in 1946 as Valedictorian. For over thirty years, she was employed at IBM in Owego. A devoted member of the Newark Valley United Methodist Church she shared her love of music as the church organist and pianist. In addition, she also was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star. Jean enjoyed drawing, handcrafting tapestries, needlepoint and was a proficient seamstress. Her travels took her all over the world and she loved to share her photos with family and friends. Always caring for others, Jean devoted much of her time caring for her mother in her mothers later years. Jean leaves behind her brothers Walter and his wife Donna Stevens and Neil and his wife Marilyn Stevens; and several nieces, nephews, and their families. She was predeceased by her parents, sister Marjorie Gehen, brother Donald Stevens, and 3 nephews. Friends and family are invited to a period of visitation at the MacPherson Funeral Home, Newark Valley, NY on Thursday, March 31st, from 11 am 12 pm at which time a celebration of her life will be held.
