She was born on February 28, 1930 to Byron and Helen Gary in Birchardville, PA, the youngest of seven siblings. She grew up on the family dairy farm but became very eager to explore the “big city” life in Binghamton. It was there that she met and married first husband Fran Benjamin in July 1959 and became a Mom to Doug, Chuck, Barbara and later, Tim. They lived in various places in upstate NY before settling down in Berkshire, NY while she worked as an Executive Secretary to the President at IBM Owego (later Lockheed Martin). They were married for 29 years at the time of his death in 1990. Ten years later she found love again and married Bob Fuller on August 11, 2001 at the age of 71. They were married for 24 years at the time of his death in February of this year.
She had a beautiful alto singing voice and often performed solos in church or sang duets with her first husband, Fran. They would spend hours singing Barbershop music as often as possible. She loved to bake and always made cookies for family to take home after a visit. She was an active member of Berkshire UMC during the time that they lived there. She loved to putter around in the garden and could convince any plant to grow. She was an avid Yankees fan and never missed a game on tv. Even after losing her eyesight, she still listened to the games and followed along.
Friends are invited to attend visitation at 10 AM on Friday April 10, followed by the funeral service at 11 AM at MacPherson Funeral Home, 5 Whig St., Newark Valley, NY.
