James S. Malinosky, beloved husband, father and grandfather, aged 79, passed away unexpectedly at his home on March 15, 2018. He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Mary E. Malinosky, his son Mark James (Nadia Bouzid) Malinosky, his daughter Karen James Malinosky, his treasured granddaughters, Rita M., Isabelle K. Malinosky and Sophie M. Malinosky, his brothers, Robert S. Malinosky and Stephen S. Malinosky, his sister, Marianne Malinosky, cousin, Patricia Malinosky, many nieces, nephews, cousins and dear friends.A son of the late Vincent and Helen (Kozol) Malinosky, he was also predeceased by his son, Christopher James Malinosky (1964 1988), his brother Joseph (Mary Grace), his wifes parents Thomas and Mary Fleming, sisters-in-law Lorraine Malinosky, Charlotte (Ed) Trowbridge, Carol (Stanley) Seeley, Gloria Fleming and brother-in-law Jay Fleming.Jim graduated from Old Forge High School in PA, class of 1956 and served in the United Stated Navy from 1956 through 1960, first stationed on a destroyer and later on the aircraft carrier the USS Franklin D. Roosevelt as a METEC. He was a member of St. John the Evangelist Church in Newark Valley and one of the master chefs at the famous chicken bar-b-qs and fish frys.A meteorologist with National Oceanic and Atmospheric Assoc. (NOAA) for 33 years, he was employed at the National Weather Service office, Edwin A. Link Field. Not only did he love his profession, he made many lasting friendships with his fellow weathermen. James retired in 1989, to enjoy his other interests; gardening, golfing, fishing, hunting, red wine, cigars and "watching the grass grow." And, of course, his family, ever his priority, to whom he was wonderfully dedicated. He took true pleasure in helping friends and neighbors.Jims family will receive friends at the MacPherson Funeral Home, Newark Valley on Monday from 5-7 PM. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. John the Evangelist Church on Tuesday at 11 am followed by burial in Hope Cemetery where full military honors will be accorded.
