James N. Guiles

James Norman Guiles Of Newark Valley James N. Guiles, 73, passed away at his home on March 25th 2010. Jim is survived by his loving wife of almost 49 years, Mary Ellen (Ziats) Guiles, his son, David (Maria) Guiles and their children Kyle, Andrew, Jordan, and Chandler; his step sons, Gary (Barbara) Oliver, Gregory Oliver, and Michael (Joanne) Oliver, and their children and grandchildren, his brother and sisters, Donald Guiles, Wilma Nichols, Minnie Hinton, and Helen Guiles, many nieces, nephews, and cousins. Jim was born Jan. 10, 1937 in Maine, NY, the youngest of 14 children born to the late Ernest and Helen (Chapin) Guiles. He served in the US Air Force and was a retired employee of the Town of Union Highway Dept. Jim used his expert mechanical skills to repair many cars, lawnmowers and other machines often going out of his way to help family and friends. He was a huge fan of BINGO and a friend to all animals. His family will receive friends on Sunday March 28th from 3-5 PM at MacPherson Funeral Home, Newark Valley. A Celebration of his life will be held there on Monday, at 10 AM with his step son Gregory Oliver officiating.
