James A. Stoughton

James A. Stoughton, 80, of Berkshire, NY, passed away on Friday, February 25, 2022. He was predeceased by his wife of sixty years, Maude Marilyn Stoughton. The couple resided at Vestal Park rehabilitation and nursing facility together until her recent passing on January 29, 2022. He was also predeceased by his parents Harry and Mary (Rockwell) Stoughton; Alan, Dick, Anna, and Bill Stoughton; and Ruth E. Stoughton and David Stoughton. They are survived by their four children: Marcella (George Funnell) Hutsko, Minelle (Frank) Wilson, Matthew (Shari) Stoughton, and Mitchell (Joanne) Stoughton; their grandchildren: Andreya Vaughn, Adrianna Parseghian, Carolyn Tucker, James P. Stoughton, Thomas Wilson, Katherine Hinze, and Benjamin Wilson; seven great grandchildren; and brothers Bob, Bruce, George and John Stoughton. Jim loved basketball, baseball and old VW Beetles. He worked hard all of his life to support and raise his family, the best he knew how. He was a dedicated employee for IBM in Owego for many years. Above all else, Jim prioritized serving his family, friends, and community, and his steadfast, reassuring presence will be forever missed. A Celebration of Life for Jim and Marilyn will be held at the Berkshire Congregational Church on Saturday March 5th at 11:00 o'clock.
