Jack W. "HOKIE" Holcomb, 78, of Cortland, passed away on Wednesday, April 21,2021 while surrounded in the love of his family. Jack was born on June 11, 1942 ason of the late Newton and Ethel Holcomb. In addition to his parents he waspredeceased by his siblings: Phidelia Colby, Thelma Muckey, Homer Holcomb,Esther Snavely, Wanita Slack, Edith Beebe, Robert Holcomb, Rodney Holcomb andRuth Smith. Jack is survived by his wife of 36 years, Betty Baker Holcomb and his children:Abby (Ron) Birdsall, Annette Holcomb, Cindy (Dave) Hunt, Jack Holcomb, Jr;Many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great grandchildren also surviveas well as family members of his late very special friends: Fran Shoupe and herson Leon Shoupe: Theresa (Jim) Kelly, Lisa Shoupe, Jannette Shoupe Perry.Jack retired as a general foreman from the Cortland County Highway Departmentfollowing 35 years of service. A talented musician, Hokie and his friends Jack andJunior Talcott, formed their band Country Squares. Many fans enjoyed theirmusic for more than 26 years. A family man in all ways.everyone was very special to him! Jack enjoyedhunting, trips to Florida, racing and going to auctions and flea markets. It couldbe said he never left a flea market without a prize purchase!In keeping with Jacks wishes, private services will be held at the convenience ofthe family at the MacPherson Funeral Home, Newark Valley.
