Jack V. Sheevers

Jack V. Sheevers, 66, of Berkshire (Speedsville)and formerly of Spencer,and Lindenhurst, NY, passed away peacefully at his home, while sleeping, on Friday, August 22, 2014. Jack is survived by his mother, Dorothy Sheevers,of Lindenhurst, NY; his 2 sons and daughter-in-law: Jack Sheevers of Philadelphia, PA, and Brian and Kim Sheevers of E. Norriton Twp., PA;his loving companion, Cathay Avery; his sisters: Evelyn Ford, Kathleen Sheevers and Patricia Sheevers; several nieces, nephews and cousins. Jack was predeceased by his father John V. Sheevers III, his daughter Karen Sheevers and his brothers: Daniel, Robert,and Michael Sheevers. Jack proudly served in the US Army during the Vietnam War from 1967 - 1970. For more than 25 years he was employed as a shift mechanic at Cornell University and was recently retired. Some of his hobbies included fishing, kayaking, and camping. He was a big fan of Billy Joel, the NY Mets, and NY Jets and had a huge place in his heart for all animals.Family and friends invited to share memories at the MacPherson Funeral Home, 5 Whig St. Newark Valley on Wednesday evening, Aug 27th from 6-9 pm. A Celebration of His Life and Funeral Service will be held there on Thursday at 1 pm.
