Irene M. Green

Irene M. Green, 80, of Massena, NY passed away on Saturday, June 7, 2008 after a courageous battle with cancer, at the home of her daughter in Newark Valley, NY.She was born on April 5, 1928 in Clarence, Ontario, Canada and was the 2nd of eight children born to the late Gilbert and Beatrice (Charbonneau) Butler.Irenes schooling only went up to the 7th grade where she then had to work to help support the family. On December 27, 1948, she married Ray H. Green, of Massena, at St. Felix Church in Cornwall, Ontario, Canada.She was predeceased by her loving husband of 50 years, Ray H. Green, her parents, two sisters; Cecil Legault of Ontario, Canada and Evelyn Brown of Alberta, Canada, one brother-in-law; Rheal Amyotte of Ontario, Canada.Irene is survived by one daughter, Sandra (Wendell) La Page of Newark Valley, NY; four sons; Carl Green of Las Vegas, Nevada, Wayne (Jennifer) Green of Rochester, NY, Brian (Randi) Green, Mark Green both of Santa Clarita, Calif., four sisters; Rita (Archie) Lalonde of Rochester, NY, Aline (Lionel) Valade of Escondido, Calif., Helen Amyotte of Ontario, Canada, Paulette (Ronald) Pierce of Quebec, Canada, one brother; Richard Butler of Florida, as well as seven grandchildren, two great grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.Irene enjoyed traveling and cruising with her husband. They loved to dance. She had a green thumb and had the most beautiful garden and could always make a plant grow. She was excellent at sewing, needlework and crafts. In the last few years she continued to cruise with her children and played cards with a great group of ladies.A memorial service will be held at St. Marys Church in Massena at a later date to be announced. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society PO Box 22718, Oklahoma City, OK 73123, in loving memory of Irene M. Green.
