Ida Berg

Ida (Holland) Berg passed away on May 19, 2022 at the age of 103. Ida was born on October 2, 1918 during WWI and the Spanish Flu epidemic. She was the daughter of Philip Vincent Aloysius and Ethel May (Ackley) Holland. She attended a one room schoolhouse and later graduated Salutatorian of her class at Parish (NY) High School. She worked as a secretary at IBM Endicott during WWII and at IBM Owego in the 1960s and 70s. She was a loving wife and mother. Ida enjoyed reading, knitting and she was a dedicated walker. Ida was a 50+ year Cancer survivor and Covid survivor. Ida was pre-deceased by her husband Arthur G. Berg; brothers Robert George Holland and Frank Ackley Holland and a half brother Robert Rude. She was also predeceased by her niece Trudy (Holland) Durivage, Bonnie (Hathaway) Williams, Sukie (Hathaway) Ladd, Carol Hathaway. Ida is survived by her son Eric Berg of Owego; daughter Ruhanna Marie Berg (Scott Traxler) of Swannanoa, NC. Her Grandchildren: Arthur Jay (Deana) Porretta of Fallon, NV; Jennifer (Chad) Bryson of Pensacola, Fla; great grandchildren: Alyssia Bryson, Jillianna Porretta, Kassandra Porretta. She is also survived by nieces and nephews: Joyce Holland (Burdette) MacDougal of Jackson, AL, Diane Holland (Frank) Pitcher of Fulton, NY; Robert (Michelle) Holland of Fulton, NY; Steven (Phyllis) Holland of Bay Minette, AL, Kelly Darling of Oswego, NY; William (Kelly) Hathaway of Candor, NY; Philip (Peggy) Hathaway of Owego; by marriage Jack Williams of Owego, NY; Art Durivage of Sebastian, FL. and 21 grand nieces and nephews. Ida donated her body to medical science at the Syracuse University Upstate Medical School. There will be no visitation or memorial services. The family will have a private remembrance service at a later date. The family would like to thank the caring staff at the Keepsake Village of Castle Gardens, Vestal, NY.
