Georgia R. Howland

Georgia R. Howland, formerly of Binghamton, passed away peacefully, on Nov. 3, 2015 in her 91st year. Georgia is survived by her loving family, sons: James R. Howland and his wife Gail, and Charles S. Howland and his wife Barbara. She is also survived by her adored grandchildren Jennifer (Scott) Krauser, Jason (Wendy) Howland, Adam, Stephen and Jonathan Howland, Steven, Brian, and Stephanie Conner, 12 great grandchildren: Connie, Jason, Jr., Brandon, Mauren, Philip, Charles, Kieryn, Tre` Jonas, Sidney, Jacob, Janesia; several nieces, nephews and cousins. Georgia was born on March 29, 1924 in Elmira, a daughter of the late James and Mary (Rietmann) Rowan. She was also predeceased by her loving husband of 52 years, Charles P. Howland in 1998 and by her great grandson Gabriel Charles Krauser.Georgia was a graduate of Ithaca College and gifted with a beautiful voice. Over the years, she delighted in sharing her love of music and joy in singing as she instructed many, many elementary school students in the Newark Valley, Binghamton and Chenango Valley School Districts. Her precious grandchildren also delighted in singing Gramma Georgies songs and continue to carry on this musical tradition. Whether you were a student, a casual acquaintance or a life-long friend, her endearing nature made you feel very, very special! And so, Georgia will be fondly remembered by many as a loving, caring and so non-assuming, Elegant Lady. Friends are invited to a period of visitation at MacPherson Funeral Home, Newark Valley on Saturday, Nov. 14, 2015 from 12 noon until 1 pm at which time a memorial service will be held with her friend Rev. Lea Harding, of Hilltop United Methodist Homes officiating.
