George A. Smith

November 11, 1971 — September 25, 2015

No farewell words were spoken. No time to say goodbye. You were gone before we knew it, and only God knows why.Our lives are forever changed knowing, that as we face each new day, we will never experience the laughter, the shenanigans, the smooth, charming and flirtatious ways of the one of a kind, hardworking and fastidious man George A. Smith. George passed away very suddenly while at work in Cortland on Friday, Sept. 25, 2015.Born on November 11, 1971 in Endicott, he was the cherished son of the late Gerald A. and Nikki L. (Miller) Smith. He is survived by the mother of his children and best friend, Damitria D. Smith, his treasured children, Damitria DJ Smith, Tanisha J. Smith, Gerald Alvin Smith and Amanda R. Smith and his very much appreciated sister, Geri Lyn Smith. Also surviving are his nieces: Jessica Lyn Rupert, Sarah (Nate) Tullius, Heather Bean, great nieces Bristol and Dallas Tullius, aunt and uncle, Brian and Tammy Miller and cousins: Jason Miller, Michele and Mike Hriciso.Growing up in Newark Valley, George managed to get himself into many predicaments with his buddies and to get out of them almost at the same time.He attended Newark Valley Schools. He loved to golf, hunt and fish; stock pile new white tee shirts; store and consume copious amounts of chocolate and laugh! Most of all, George treasured every moment spent with his adored children. George was an employee of Alyne Trucking, Cortland for many years. Friends are invited to join George's family for a time of sharing stories and memories at the MacPherson Funeral Home in Newark Valley on Tuesday, Sept. 29, 2015 at 4 o'clock.
